The Ambassador of Japan to Lebanon, Mr. Tokumitsu Murakami, co-signed Friday, February 13, a grant contract with the president of the Municipality of Amioun.

The contracts stipulate a total assistance of US$ 80,870 extended by Government of Japan's Grassroots and Human Security Grant Program through the Embassy of Japan in Lebanon for assisting the municipality of Amioun in buying a garbage collection truck and about 100 garbage bins.
The total amount of the grant has been received by cheque number: 261523 / Standard & Chartered Bank on March 04, 2004. And on May 15, 2004, The Municipality of Amioun will receive the following:
Government of Japan's Grassroots and Human Security Grant Program has so far extended a total of approximately US$ 4.8 Million to Lebanon through the Japanese Embassy since 1996. The Program provides financial assistance to municipalities, NGOs, hospitals, private schools,research institutes, and other non-profit organizations to implement flexible and timely development projects at the grassroots level.
